Role Overview

The Investment Portfolio Strategist plays a pivotal role in the firm’s financial ecosystem, responsible for the careful management of client portfolios. This position requires close collaboration with the Investment Management Team, active involvement in strategic committees, and a keen awareness of market trends to inform investment decisions. The strategist will work alongside senior portfolio managers and Chief Investment Officers (CIOs) to develop and document investment strategies and processes. As the strategist gains experience, there will be opportunities to enhance client engagement and contribute to thought leadership in the financial sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily management of client portfolios, ensuring alignment with investment objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Support Senior Portfolio Managers with research, enhancing credit analysis capabilities across various sectors, and providing insights for the Credit Committee.
  • Actively participate in Portfolio Management committees, contributing to discussions that shape the firm’s investment strategies.
  • Stay informed on financial market trends to make decisions that reflect the current economic landscape.
  • Encourage open dialogue within the Investment Management Team to foster idea sharing and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for investment strategies and operational procedures to ensure consistency in portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to analyze new business Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring portfolio management perspectives are effectively represented.
  • Produce detailed research papers on relevant investment topics and deliver presentations under the guidance of the Chief Investment Officers (CIOs).
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, acting as a knowledgeable resource on current trends and firm capabilities.
Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field, along with a CFA designation is required.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of five years in the asset management industry, particularly in fixed income portfolios.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, database management, and Bloomberg.
  • Knowledge Base: A strong understanding of financial markets and the asset management industry.
  • Market Acumen: Proven track record in managing fixed income portfolios and effective client engagement.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and across departments.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience in risk management and strategic planning within the asset management sector.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving market conditions and regulatory changes.
  • Leadership experience, with a capacity to mentor junior staff and lead by example.
