Our workforce is not merely part of history; they are actively shaping it. Our Defense Systems Sector is in search of a *Systems Engineering Specialist* to enhance our expanding team in *Oklahoma City, Oklahoma*.

This Systems Engineering Specialist will contribute to a multifaceted team of electrical, mechanical, aerospace, and systems engineers to fulfill organizational objectives.

They will provide engineering leadership for initiatives within an Integrated Product Team (IPT), encompassing technical planning, requirements development and monitoring, system integration, systems integrations lab (SIL), ground and flight testing, verification and validation, airworthiness, system safety, risk management, reliability/maintainability, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for comprehensive systems.

Analyses are conducted at all levels of the total system product lifecycle, including concept, requirements, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.

This individual will support project teams and hold accountability for cost, schedule, and performance.

*Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the systematic and logical transformation of customer or product requirements into comprehensive systems solutions that consider technical, schedule, and cost limitations
  • Conduct or oversee functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to convert customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Engage in the negotiation of contracts and contract modifications; coordinating the preparation of proposals, business plans, performance work statements, and specifications
  • Act as the primary customer liaison for program activities, as well as facilitating program review sessions with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product development, integration, and testing
  • Set milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules
  • Develop budgets and apply earned value management techniques for financial oversight of contracts
  • Identify program challenges and devise solutions, such as resource allocation or modifications to contractual specifications
  • Operate independently to identify and resolve issues related to the development and execution of assigned projects
  • Direct the activities of employees assigned to the program
  • Support the growth of new business by expanding the product line with existing or new customers within the Department of Defense or industry
  • Participate in showcasing company capabilities to prospective customers and in formulating potential solutions to customer needs
  • Plan R&D initiatives and recommend technological application programs to achieve long-term objectives
*Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in science or engineering with a minimum of 2 years of Systems Engineering experience
  • Strong customer engagement abilities
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
  • Must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
*Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success as a Systems Engineer across various phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution. The candidate should possess the ability to quickly assess and provide guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group, as well as demonstrate mentoring and support to engineers
  • Background in business development, including proposal preparation and Red Team support
  • Experience with aircraft systems, including avionics, radar, communications, mission computing systems, global positioning systems, threat warning systems, navigation, structures, flight controls, and offensive/defensive systems
  • Experience managing analyses of structural loads, flight dynamics, electrical loads, thermal loads, EMI/EMC, and weight and balance
  • Experience with SIL, ground and flight test requirements, planning, execution, and reporting
  • Experience in obtaining flight and aircraft certifications
  • Experience in developing organizational processes and procedures for various engineering analyses
  • Experience in identifying and selecting optimal software tools to support diverse engineering processes
*Salary Range: *$71,400 - $107,000


The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
