Job Summary:

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a highly motivated Technical Support Specialist III to join our team. As a key member of our support team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch technical support to our staff and faculty, ensuring that our desktop computer systems and other technology-based systems are running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily support for computers, including operating system, software installation and maintenance, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Respond to assigned tickets, evaluate, prioritize, resolve problems, and escalate to appropriate support areas as needed.
  • Act as the front-facing support liaison for all desktop-related support issues, providing support documentation and collaborating with higher-level technical areas on planning and issue resolution.
  • Set up, install, configure, and deploy new PCs and peripheral equipment, troubleshooting where necessary.
  • Act as an escalation point for audio-visual issues within classroom and conference spaces, providing support and developing familiarity with customer needs.
  • Attend formal training, conduct self-paced training through online courses or on-the-job training, attend conferences, and engage with peers to maintain a broad understanding of technologies and stay up-to-date on new technologies.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Relevant experience (5 years) in a technical support role.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact with a broad range of clients.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of technical resources, including engaging vendor support, to provide high-level technical support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Additional certifications or training in technical support, computer hardware and software, or IT networking.
