Child Clinical Psychologist in Neurodevelopmental Services

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct evidence-based assessments and interventions for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, neuromuscular disorders, intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, feeding disorders, medical complexities, and co-occurring conditions. Provide expert consultation to medical and interdisciplinary teams. Educate medical fellows, residents, and students. Engage in departmental and health system committees and continuing education initiatives. The Department of Pediatrics within the Commonwealth of Virginia is known for its collaborative and collegial atmosphere, with a strong emphasis on DEIB. Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent from an APA-accredited program, have completed an APA-accredited internship, and be licensed or license-eligible in Virginia. Cultural humility and proficiency in interprofessional practice within a complex academic medical setting are essential. Post-doctoral experience in neurodevelopmental and behavioral pediatrics is preferred. The new faculty member will be expected to pursue board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology once eligible.
The Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health section provides clinical services and educational programs for the Department of Pediatrics. Currently, the section consists of six pediatric and child clinical psychologists and is rapidly expanding, with plans to double in size within the next year. This growth presents an exceptional opportunity to join our team. Psychologists collaborate closely with pediatricians, fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, and multidisciplinary allied health professionals. Our pediatric psychologists maintain strong working relationships with community providers and other pediatric subspecialists within the health system.
