About the Organization

Options for Supported Housing (OSH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering safe and quality community housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Research indicates that those with greater autonomy in their living situations, employment, and services experience improved physical and mental well-being.

As a provider of affordable housing for over three hundred sixty individuals across multiple states, OSH partners with both for-profit and nonprofit service providers to ensure that residents enjoy safe and fulfilling lives in their homes. The provision of accessible housing is a crucial service that enhances life quality and expands personal choices.

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the organization in managing operations, promoting and expanding tax-exempt activities, and enhancing the capacity to acquire grant-funded homes. This role involves fostering partnerships and collaborations with similar organizations.

Currently, OSH operates with a budget of $2,866,840.00 and a small team. The Chief Executive Officer should reside in the surrounding area and be present in the office when not traveling for organizational purposes. The position entails approximately 25% travel, with a potential for a hybrid work schedule after an initial onboarding period.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership
  • Ensure the organization has a strategic plan that aligns with its mission and facilitates timely progress as approved by the board.
  • Guide the development of programs and financial plans while monitoring industry standards and making policy recommendations.
  • Provide the Board with essential information for informed decision-making.
  • Stay informed about significant trends in the field to enhance OSH's effectiveness.
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders and participate in committees to address community needs.
  • Engage in relevant conferences and workshops to promote OSH's growth and community impact.
  • Maintain official records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Oversee the accurate filing of all necessary registrations and certifications.
Board and Committees
  • Coordinate meetings and provide timely notifications to Board and Committees.
  • Implement Board decisions promptly and accurately.
  • Prepare meeting agendas in collaboration with committee chairs.
  • Document meeting minutes for review and distribution.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all meetings.
Financial Oversight
  • Supervise internal staff and consultants, including the Chief Financial Officer, to ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Oversee the preparation of the annual budget and provide financial reports.
  • Utilize financial benchmarks to evaluate new initiatives and assure stakeholders of OSH's fiscal health.
  • Monitor investment performance and ensure compliance with established policies.
  • Develop and manage an annual expense budget within reasonable limits.
Organizational Management
  • Foster collaborative relationships with the Board and provide necessary information for decision-making.
  • Advise on grant initiatives and other organizational matters as requested by the Board.
  • Manage staff recruitment, retention, and development of personnel policies.
  • Support the Housing Coordinator in managing the housing portfolio and compliance with fair housing policies.
  • Oversee daily operations and provide training and support to staff.
Promotion and Community Engagement
  • Stay engaged with national and local issues related to philanthropy and affordable housing.
  • Identify emerging housing needs and craft initiatives to address them.
Growth and Development
  • Develop strategies to advance OSH's mission through philanthropic efforts.
  • Conduct research and implement relevant projects and programs.
  • Demonstrate strong grant writing skills and monitor funding opportunities.
Marketing and Outreach
  • Conduct community awareness activities to promote OSH's mission.
  • Build relationships with diverse community leaders and stakeholders.
  • Represent OSH in philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.
Additional Duties

Perform other necessary activities to ensure the overall effectiveness of OSH operations.

Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and property management software.
  • Experience in executive leadership and strategic planning.
  • Ability to engage effectively with community stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit administration and fundraising.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five to seven years of experience in nonprofit management or equivalent roles.

Compensation

The expected salary for this position ranges from $110,000.00 to $140,000.00, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
