Job Overview and Responsibilities

OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING) (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION

This role is situated within the Department of Parks & Recreation, where the selected candidate will operate under the guidance of the District Administrative Chief and may receive additional instructions from the State Park Superintendent.

The Department is seeking a dedicated and proactive individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while providing essential administrative assistance to the Public Safety Program. The responsibilities encompass a diverse range of administrative, technical, and analytical tasks, requiring the following competencies: exceptional customer service skills, adeptness in managing multiple priorities, effective communication abilities, strong time management skills, teamwork orientation, and reliability. The incumbent plays a vital role in supporting the Public Safety Operations at one of the largest recreational areas for off-highway vehicles in the state.

This position may involve working up to 1500 hours within a 12-month timeframe.

A valid Class C driver's license is mandatory. Candidates must provide details regarding their driver's license on their application, including the license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements or restrictions.

This position is not eligible for telework.

Typing Certification is required, and the typing test must be administered in a proctored setting.

Working Environment


• Office setting, with extended periods of sitting.


• Frequent computer usage.

• The role may require occasional outdoor work and may involve evenings and/or weekends.

Special Requirements

The position necessitates the ability to type at a minimum speed as specified in the Class Specifications. A valid typing certificate confirming the ability to meet the minimum typing speed is required prior to hiring. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available through the designated website. A valid California Driver's License is required. Candidates must provide relevant details regarding their CDL on their application. A background investigation must be successfully completed prior to hiring.

Typing certificates issued within the last four years, confirming a minimum speed of 40 WPM, and proctored either virtually or in person, will be honored.
