Position Overview:
The Weld Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing operations by assessing new product designs and providing expert recommendations on material choices and welding techniques tailored to specific project requirements.

Core Responsibilities:
Deliver innovative and economically viable material and welding solutions that align with manufacturing and design objectives.

Identify, analyze, and resolve complex materials joining and manufacturing engineering challenges, particularly in non-traditional repair scenarios, with precision and timeliness.

Take initiative in addressing new and challenging materials joining and manufacturing engineering issues while effectively managing associated risks.

Evaluate new product designs and suggest optimal material selections based on critical design parameters, including strength, weight, thermal resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost considerations.

Collaborate with engineers, project planners, and corporate leaders to strategize and assess new projects.
Discover and implement advanced welding processes and techniques to enhance Holtec applications.

Work closely with design and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot materials joining challenges before and during production, offering technical assistance to both suppliers and clients.

Support the identification and resolution of equipment-related issues.
Monitor material performance and assess deterioration over time. Investigate product failure data and laboratory results to pinpoint issues and devise effective solutions.
Engage in the testing and oversight of materials processing protocols.
Draft proposals and budgets, and compile comprehensive reports.
Assess technical specifications and economic considerations relevant to process or product design goals.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of providing welding support through active involvement on the production floor or in an office setting, which may include climbing, standing, sitting, crouching, bending, reaching, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Collaboration:
Work in conjunction with the Weld Engineering Manager, General Manager, Department Managers, Production Supervisors, Project Managers, Designers, and Welders.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering from an accredited institution, accompanied by at least two (2) years of welding engineering experience in a manufacturing context or a related field.

Familiarity with weld symbols and the ability to interpret fabrication drawings.
Exhibit a professional demeanor and innovative thinking, with the capacity to articulate ideas, concepts, and theories effectively to diverse audiences.
Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous welding experience is advantageous.

Knowledge of:
ASME Section III & IX; AWS D1.1, D1.2 & D1.6; MIL-STD 248/278. Certified Welding Inspector.
