Job Overview

In this pivotal role as a Loan Origination Specialist, you will be responsible for originating and closing mortgage loans through extensive marketing initiatives and building new and existing relationships. This outside sales position involves generating retail mortgage loans through external sources, driving origination objectives and sales strategies to expand market share for First United Bank & Trust.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Utilize exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to generate referral business, leads, and relationships with individuals, existing clients, past clients, and real estate professionals.
  2. Cross-sell First United Bank products and services.
  3. Collaborate with bank personnel to promote First United in assigned markets.
  4. Takes thorough and complete loan applications; analyzes and pre-qualifies applicant information to determine the viability of the client's desired loan program.
  5. Pulls credit, analyzes credit, and compares it for accuracy with the mortgage borrower's statements and loan application.
  6. Determines the correct loan options for the borrower based on their present situation, future plans, and preferred loan product.
  7. Submits the loan application, preliminary income verification documents, preliminary asset verification documents, loan disclosures, any required credit explanation letters, and executed application forms to processing.
  8. Counsels the borrower through the application, approval, and closing process – including review of the HUD settlement statement with the borrower prior to closing.
  9. Attends closings and ensures great customer service throughout the process.
  10. Meets minimum expectations for First United best practices and production standards.
  11. Attends assigned production meetings.
  12. Provides exceptional customer service, maintains high ethical standards, and ensures compliance with every borrower.

Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • The ideal candidate must have at least two years of experience in a mortgage lending environment.
  • A proven record of success in generating sales in a mortgage lending environment is essential.
  • The successful Loan Origination Specialist must be currently working as a Mortgage Loan Consultant, closing a minimum of 2 self-sourced loans per month.

Educational Background and Work Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have at least two years of experience in a mortgage lending environment.
  • Proven track record of success in generating sales in a mortgage lending environment.
  • Must be currently working as a Mortgage Loan Consultant, closing a minimum of 2 self-sourced loans per month.

Salary Range:
$80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and performance.

Estimated Salary:
$100,000 per year.
