Job Summary

VIA Metro Transit is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Accessibility and Inclusive Services. This key leadership role will be responsible for ensuring that VIA Metro Transit's services are accessible and inclusive for all customers, particularly those with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Accessibility Initiatives: Develop and implement strategies to improve accessibility and inclusivity of VIA Metro Transit's services, including paratransit, fixed-route bus, and rail services.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with customers, community groups, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and preferences and to ensure that VIA Metro Transit's services meet those needs.
  • Develop and Implement Policies: Create and implement policies and procedures to ensure that VIA Metro Transit's services are accessible and inclusive, including the development of accessibility standards and guidelines.
  • Provide Training and Support: Provide training and support to VIA Metro Transit staff on accessibility and inclusive services, including disability awareness and customer service skills.
  • Monitor and Evaluate: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of accessibility and inclusive services, including customer feedback and satisfaction surveys.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as disability studies, social work, or public administration, and at least 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of disability laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and experience in developing and implementing accessibility and inclusive services.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires occasional travel to off-site meetings and events. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet deadlines and multiple priorities.
