Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Manager to join our team at Presbyterian Villages of Michigan. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of meals for our residents, visitors, and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Planning and Execution: Develop and implement menus that are varied, nutritionally balanced, and appetizing, taking into account seasonal and local food availability.
  • Culinary Operations: Supervise and coordinate the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Staff Management: Direct and train staff performing food service duties, including cooking, cleaning, and inventory management.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Requisition food supplies, kitchen equipment, and appliances, based on estimates of future needs, and maintain accurate records of food use and expenditures.
  • Quality Control: Inspect equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Training and Development: Train new employees on food service procedures and policies, and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies, including food safety and sanitation guidelines, and report any incidents or concerns to management.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Experience: No prior experience necessary, but a strong background in culinary arts and management is preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to operate a computer and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Availability: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
