About the Role

The Media Officer will be responsible for implementing communications plans to secure high-impact US media and social media attention for MSF's medical humanitarian activities, expertise, and concerns. This includes conducting proactive and reactive media work, collaborating with colleagues across the organization, and supporting media strategy and objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in media or public relations, preferably with a nonprofit organization or creative agency. They should possess professional knowledge and understanding of the media and social media landscape, combined with solid news judgment.

The Media Officer will be responsible for developing tactical media relations plans, building media lists, identifying and developing story ideas to pitch to journalists working with US-based media. They will also execute media plans for specific issues, contexts, or events to keep the public informed about MSF's work.

The successful candidate will have excellent research, writing, and editing skills, and the ability to effectively present information to the media and external audiences. They should also be familiar with relationship management with journalists, influencers, and content creators.

We offer a competitive salary of $78,399.00 - $117,599.00 per annum, commensurate with experience.
