Job Summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Store Manager to lead the Non-Food Department and ensure the efficient operation of the store. As a key member of the store management team, you will be responsible for managing inventory, merchandise presentation, and customer service, while maintaining a safe and secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Non-Food Department, including inventory management, merchandise presentation, and customer service.
  • Ensure a safe and secure working environment, adhering to company security practices and cash control procedures.
  • Assist in training employees on proper stocking, presentation, and execution of hourly recovery standards.
  • Record Non-Food Markdowns, analyze causes, and take corrective action to prevent recurrences.
  • Assist in sanitation standards and training of all associates assigned in the Non-Food area.
  • Ensure the execution of the store's 7-Day Workflow Plan, including stocking standards and (Find-Fill-Fix) procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring the store's HHT is used as an investigative device to prevent out of stocks and overstocks.
  • Assist with the organization of the receiving area and ensure all merchandise is presented according to established practices and plans.
  • Assist with POG execution, pricing integrity, and all Super Tuesday pricing and signing execution.
  • Minimize damages and markdowns, ensure accurate scanning and paperwork, and follow inventory control procedures to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Assist with ensuring adherence to stated company security practices and cash control procedures when supervising operations in the Store Manager's absence.
  • Assist with ensuring that customers' needs and requests are routinely addressed in an efficient and timely manner.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
  • Ability to perform cash register functions.
  • Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
  • Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
  • Understanding of safety policies and practices.
  • Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to comply with company policies and procedures as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures manual, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain required certifications in food handling.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to run the check-out station, stock merchandise, and unload trucks.
  • Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment, including hand-held scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, hoses, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, and U-boats (six-wheel carts).
  • Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing using a ladder.
  • Fast-paced environment; moderate noise level.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to hazardous cleaning solutions.
  • Occasionally exposed to slippery floor surfaces.
  • May be exposed to extreme cold in freezers.
