Position Overview

Role: Electrical Automation Specialist

Location: Charleston, SC

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Automation Specialist to join our team. This role operates on a DuPont work schedule, featuring rotating shifts with ample time off, ensuring a balanced work-life dynamic. Overtime compensation is available at a rate of time and a half.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance to drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair low to medium voltage motor control systems for operational equipment.
  • Execute preventative maintenance and troubleshooting for motor drive systems, specifically within Siemens and Rockwell product lines.
  • Utilize PLC interfaces for effective diagnostics and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Support the installation, start-up, and commissioning of new machinery, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to the development and review of operational and safety Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for plant equipment, enhancing procedures based on practical observations.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated alignment with our Target Behaviors to support departmental objectives.
  • Possess an Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology, military-equivalent electronics training, or a high school diploma with at least 3 years of relevant electronic maintenance experience.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks typical in a manufacturing environment, including climbing, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Experience working with electrical and mechanical machinery in various environmental conditions.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues to minimize downtime and enhance production efficiency.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E / NEC safety standards.
  • Commitment to a zero-incident safety culture, promoting teammate engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics.
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment focusing on automation, calibrated instrumentation, and electrical and mechanical repairs.
  • Knowledge of PLC logic, industrial automation systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Capability to systematically troubleshoot complex technical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Occasional operation of forklifts and aerial lifts in a safe manner.
