Position Overview:
As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in enhancing process efficiency and safety within our operations. Your expertise will contribute to the optimization of our manufacturing processes, ensuring that we maintain our reputation for excellence in the chemical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support initiatives aimed at optimizing processes to enhance safety, profitability, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee capital and expense projects ranging from $5M to $5MM, focusing on control strategies and process improvements.
- Provide on-call support for site operations during off-hours.
- Deliver training and guidance to contract personnel.
- Review and manage documentation related to system standards, control procedures, and complex control schemes.
- Engage in plant process safety management activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Assist in troubleshooting control system challenges.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess a BS degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science/Engineering, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in petrochemical processes. Alternatively, an Associate Degree in Instrumentation or Process Technology combined with over 10 years of relevant experience will be accepted.
Additional requirements include:
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with process control automation systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants and vendors.
- Experience in mentoring and training team members on process control topics.
- A proactive approach with excellent multitasking abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to interpret design documents such as P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, and schematics.
- Solid project management skills related to advanced process control items.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the manufacturing of olefins, alpha-olefins, and/or polyolefins, including ethylene units and gas-phase polyethylene units, is highly desirable. Familiarity with DCS systems such as Foxboro I/A, Yokogawa, Honeywell, or ABB is also preferred.
