About the Role

At Network and Data Solutions Integrators (NDSI), we're seeking a highly skilled Storage Engineer to join our team. As a Storage Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, architecting, configuring, deploying, upgrading, and supporting various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and architect storage and backup solutions to meet the needs of our clients
  • Configure and deploy storage and backup platforms, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and related technologies
  • Participate in technical review meetings and adhere to engineering and architecture standards
  • Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes to evaluate, deploy, manage, and integrate new technologies
  • Provide incident support and participate in on-call rotation during off-hours and weekends
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including logical and physical diagrams, run books, and technical engineering documents
  • Stay up-to-date with current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology
Requirements
  • BS degree and 5+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination
  • Hands-on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts
  • Experience with SAN, NAS, and iSCSI storage implementations
  • Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments
  • Senior-level experience with design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers
  • Strong understanding of high availability concepts, with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environments
  • Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts, including disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts, and essential TCP/IP concepts
  • Understanding of security best practices, federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.)
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to take direction
Preferred Qualifications
  • NetApp Certification
  • PowerShell/Python scripting experience
  • Experience leveraging scripts to audit and enforce configuration standards
  • Amazon Web Services/C2S experience
