As a Storage Engineer with Network and Data Solutions Integrators (NDSI), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the systems that are crucial for operational success. Your contributions will be instrumental in advancing the capabilities of various agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade, and maintain diverse storage and backup platforms along with their management tools.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to storage systems and associated technologies.
- Comply with engineering and architectural standards while participating in necessary technical review meetings.
- Engage in the assessment, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in collaboration with fellow engineers and architects.
- Provide incident support and participate in on-call rotations during off-hours and weekends.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including logical/physical diagrams and technical engineering documents.
- Exhibit initiative and dedication to optimizing systems and processes.
- Oversee the installation of new storage hardware and software in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Manage updates to hardware, operating systems, and software to ensure optimal functionality and security.
- Monitor systems and regularly review statistics related to capacity, performance, and utilization.
- Stay informed about current developments in storage and backup technology to assist in evaluating future directions.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree with over 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on engineering experience with NetApp and various storage technologies.
- Experience with SAN, NAS, and iSCSI storage implementations.
- Proficiency in capacity planning and sizing for storage and backup environments.
- Expertise in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup systems.
- Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies.
- Senior-level experience in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems across multiple hardware platforms.
- Strong understanding of high availability concepts and practical experience in implementing key components in storage environments.
- Solid grasp of fundamental hardware concepts including disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, and performance concepts.
- Comprehensive understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts.
- Knowledge of security best practices and federal hardening requirements.
- CompTIA Security+ or similar certification for IAT Level II as per DoD 8570 standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to follow directions effectively.
Desired Qualifications:
- NetApp Certification.
- Experience with PowerShell/Python scripting.
- Familiarity with leveraging scripts for auditing and enforcing configuration standards.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services / C2S.
