Job Summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Accounting Careers Trainee. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in accounting and auditing, and to contribute to the fiscal and economic well-being of the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Master the skills necessary to satisfactorily complete the training program for a professional accounting or auditing position.
  • Perform a variety of increasingly difficult duties as skills are acquired during the course of the training period.
  • Examine financial records of governmental or private businesses and accounting methods and procedures to ensure compliance with statutes, regulations, guidelines or accepted accounting principles.
  • May receive training in such areas as maintaining financial records and accounts, establishing financial statements and schedules, and preparing budget estimates.
Requirements
  • Candidates must be able to meet the experience and training requirements of the designated job class at the completion of the development program.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including functions such as tables and formatting, data manipulation and pivot tables.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and data, such as through course work, work experience or internships.
  • Experience interacting with diverse groups of individuals through phone, email, and face-to-face communication.
