About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Vice President for Facilities Services to join our team at Georgia Southern University. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight for our facilities management operations, ensuring that our campuses are safe, efficient, and effective in supporting our academic mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction for the operational management of facilities services, including budgeting, planning, and management processes.
  • Supervise departments within facilities services, including environmental health and safety, and planning and design.
  • Establish budget guidelines, prepare annual operating budgets, and gain approval.
  • Implement and allocate resources according to budget allocation.
  • Consult and coordinate with university officials on matters of policy, interdivisional interaction, and capital improvement.
  • Establish goals and objectives to support the president, vice presidents, deans, directors, and department chairs to ensure support of the university's mission.
  • Organize and manage the division through proper planning and policy formulation to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Advise the vice president for business and finance on institutional policies and procedures related to the management of university physical resources.
  • Lead in the development and support of a campus-wide energy management program.
  • Lead team members to drive toward customer service excellence.
  • Collect data to prepare the division annual report for the vice president for business and finance.
  • With the vice president, lead in developing institutional lists of capital projects and major repair and renovation priorities.
  • Maintain updated university facility master plans.
  • Coordinate working relationships with city and county officials on various facilities services issues.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to division management.
  • Interview, train, plan, assign, and direct work for facilities services teams.
  • Perform performance evaluations and guide professional development.
  • Lead division team members to follow all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Train division team members to adhere to safety and other risk management policies in the performance of work.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ten or more years of related work experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified education facilities professional credentials or similar.
  • Master's degree.
  • Six or more years of related work experience.
  • Prior experience in university facilities environments.
Salary and Benefits

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis. The proposed salary is commensurate with experience.
