Role Summary: Prepare meals that provide nourishment and variety for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily meals according to the weekly menu plan.
  • Modify recipes to meet special dietary needs of residents or enhance existing recipes, focusing on low sodium options.
  • Ensure appealing presentation of dishes before serving.
  • Maintain portion control to adhere to budgetary guidelines.
  • Identify and report food and supply needs for upcoming menus to the supervisor.
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
  • Ensure proper food handling, labeling, and storage for infection prevention.
  • Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery, ensuring proper storage of all food items.
  • Assist in food service coordination and delivery.
  • Notify management of any equipment or appliance malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Report any resident well-being concerns to the Executive Director or supervisor.
  • Encourage resident participation in food service programs and activities.
  • Attend mandatory staff and in-service meetings.
  • Report any workplace injuries to the supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding resident information and community operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in commercial or large-scale domestic cooking.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Safety practices in working with kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to promote teamwork in service delivery.
  • Familiarity with state food handling and kitchen regulations.
  • Proficient in operating kitchen appliances and office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food preparation training certification is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and assist others.
