Quality Assurance Specialist
Job Purpose
The Quality Assurance Specialist is tasked with supporting all quality engineering functions throughout the product life cycle, from the introduction of new products (NPI) to ongoing modifications. This role involves active engagement in design specifications, quality-oriented design, manufacturing requirements, process and technology development, product verification and validation, project planning, and relevant documentation. The position is accountable for all aspects (product and process) concerning the quality of the assigned products. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Specialist will develop, adjust, apply, and uphold quality standards, while generating protocols and reports. The role includes mentoring engineers and repair personnel on quality system requirements and process enhancement methodologies for their product lines.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities
- Integrate ISO standards throughout the product life cycle, designing and developing necessary inspection and process control methodologies
- Provide expert guidance on six sigma principles (Sampling, Acceptance Criteria, DOE, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA) as well as advice on Design Control elements to New Product Introduction (NPI) team members and Repair Staff
- Formulate and implement verification and validation plans and protocols associated with product/process quality in accordance with ISO regulations and company SOPs
- Oversee multiple projects concurrently without supervision. This includes:
- Crafting detailed and precise project tasks and timelines
- Collaborating with project team members and other support personnel to resolve project-related conflicts and issues
- Assisting in supplier audits to verify supplier capability, including reconciliation of inspection methods and evaluation of proposed vendor changes for NPI and sustaining activities
- Conducting internal audits of the quality system to meet ISO requirements
- Supporting the CAPA program to ensure the timely resolution of corrective and preventative actions
- Control, implement, and review ECOs to guarantee compliance with the quality system
- Estimate and collect necessary information on timelines and costs related to QA/QC tasks for Project Planning
- Conduct hazard and risk analysis for new and sustaining products
- Investigate issues impacting product quality
- Serve as a liaison between QA and project engineers to ensure that inspection process capabilities have been verified and properly documented
- BS in Engineering with 5-8 years of experience in the manufacturing sector
- Experience in LEAN, Six Sigma, and Process Validation
- ASQ CQE/CSSBB or equivalent preferred
- 5-8 years of work experience in a Quality Engineering capacity
- Strong understanding of requirements for mechanical drawings and product specifications necessary to communicate requirements to suppliers
- Robust working knowledge of design and manufacturing process controls
- Proficient in using metrology and statistical methods to identify and rectify inadequate quality control practices and inspection plan development
- Computer literate in various software applications (i.e. - Word, Excel, Oracle)
- Excellent technical writing skills and ability to create technical protocols and reports as well as manufacturing/inspection procedures
- Capable of independently organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks
- Ability to discuss and clearly define key technical and process development issues and independently formulate action plans
- Ability to collaborate and support team members and coordinate interdepartmental activities to resolve conflicts and issues
