Role Overview: Quality Assurance Engineer

Objective

The Quality Assurance Engineer plays a pivotal role in facilitating all quality engineering initiatives throughout the product life cycle, from the launch of new products (NPI) to ongoing modifications. This encompasses active involvement in design specifications, quality-oriented design, manufacturing prerequisites, process and technology development, product verification and validation, project planning, and relevant documentation. The position is accountable for all facets (product and process) concerning the quality of assigned products. Additionally, the QA Engineer will formulate, adjust, implement, and uphold quality standards, while also generating necessary protocols and reports. The QA Engineer is tasked with mentoring engineers and repair personnel on quality system requirements and process enhancement methodologies pertinent to their product lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate ISO standards throughout the product life cycle, crafting and developing essential inspection and process control methodologies.
  • Offer expert guidance on six sigma principles (Sampling, Acceptance Criteria, DOE, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA) and Design Control elements to New Product Introduction (NPI) team members and Repair Staff.
  • Design and implement verification and validation plans and protocols related to product/process quality in accordance with ISO regulations and company SOPs.
  • Oversee multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision, which includes:
    • Developing detailed and precise project tasks and timelines.
    • Collaborating with project team members and other support personnel to resolve project-related conflicts and challenges.
    • Assisting in supplier audits to verify supplier capabilities, including the reconciliation of inspection methods and assessment of proposed vendor changes for NPI and sustaining activities.
    • Conducting internal audits of the quality system to ensure compliance with ISO requirements.
    • Supporting the CAPA program to ensure timely resolution of corrective and preventive actions.
    • Managing, implementing, and reviewing ECOs to guarantee adherence to the quality system.
  • Assess and compile necessary information regarding timelines and costs associated with QA/QC tasks for Project Planning.
  • Execute hazard and risk analyses for both new and sustaining products.
  • Investigate issues impacting product quality.
  • Serve as a liaison between QA and project engineers to confirm that inspection process capabilities have been validated and properly documented.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5-8 years of experience in the manufacturing sector.
  • Proficiency in LEAN, Six Sigma, and Process Validation methodologies.
  • ASQ CQE/CSSBB certification or equivalent preferred.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in a Quality Engineering capacity.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawing requirements and product specifications necessary for effective communication with suppliers.
  • In-depth knowledge of design and manufacturing process controls.
  • Capability to utilize metrology and statistical methods to identify and rectify inadequate quality control practices and develop inspection plans.
  • Proficient in various software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Oracle).
  • Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to create technical protocols, reports, and manufacturing/inspection procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks independently.
  • Ability to engage in discussions, clearly define key technical and process development issues, and independently formulate action plans.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to support team members and coordinate interdepartmental activities to resolve conflicts and issues.
