Job Overview

Nodal Exchange, a prominent power futures exchange in North America, is at the forefront of innovation in the derivatives market, offering essential price, credit, and liquidity risk management solutions. We are currently seeking a proficient Senior Tax Accountant to enhance our Accounting team. This role is pivotal in overseeing our tax compliance and strategic tax initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Tax Accountant will report directly to the Controller and will be tasked with the following:

  • Manage and coordinate the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns in collaboration with external tax preparers.
  • Formulate and execute tax strategies aimed at optimizing the company's effective tax rate.
  • Stay informed on changes in tax legislation and regulations, ensuring compliance and evaluating potential impacts.
  • Prepare tax provisions and related disclosures for financial statements.
  • Act as the primary contact for tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Work closely with the accounting team to support tax planning and financial forecasting.
  • Assist in the monthly and year-end closing processes.
  • Support both external and internal audit requests and inquiries.
  • Contribute to the implementation and testing of internal controls, recommending solutions for identified issues.
  • Identify and execute process improvements to enhance the efficiency of tax operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Exceptional analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in technology with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
  • Adaptable and capable of meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Educational Background
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • 3-7 years of relevant tax experience.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department is highly preferred.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience. Nodal Exchange also provides a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees.
