Job Summary:

The Mechanical Technician will provide essential mechanical maintenance support to ensure the operational efficiency of equipment within a renewable energy facility. This role may include acting as a Lead Technician in the absence of a Lead Mechanic.

The responsibilities include:

  • Installing, maintaining, testing, inspecting, and repairing various mechanical systems such as turbines, pumps, and valves.
  • Replacing components like bearings and seals in machinery.
  • Troubleshooting both stationary and rotating equipment, executing repairs in line with industry best practices.
  • Utilizing machine shop tools, including drill presses and lathes, to fabricate and repair parts.
  • Adjusting equipment tolerances based on technical drawings and specifications.
  • Designing and constructing specialized tools to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conducting routine inspections to monitor equipment performance and identify potential issues.
  • Executing welding and cutting tasks for mechanical repairs.
  • Performing plumbing and pipe fitting duties as required.
  • Managing insulation installation and removal on various equipment.
  • Documenting maintenance activities and equipment histories accurately.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of three years of experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting. Experience in power plant operations or similar environments is preferred.


Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and their application in maintenance tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to generate reports as needed.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools and machinery.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires working in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and confined spaces. Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and operating machinery safely.
