Job Overview

This position serves as a working supervisor during overnight shifts, collaborating closely with the team from Wednesday to Saturday, from 6 PM to 4 AM. Flexibility is essential to ensure adequate shift coverage, attend necessary meetings, and engage with staff. The role of the PCW Supervisor is crucial in fostering a supportive work atmosphere that encourages learning and promotes a collaborative team dynamic to achieve our mission of delivering exceptional patient care from admission through discharge.

We prioritize an inclusive team philosophy and actively involve PCW technicians in both emergency and critical care settings to enhance their clinical skills and critical thinking abilities. Strong patient advocacy and meticulous attention to detail are fundamental components of mentoring, vital for ensuring patient safety and delivering high-quality nursing care.

The PCW ward manages a diverse range of cases, including orthopedic, ophthalmic, cardiac, and oncology patients, as well as various conditions treated by our internal medicine and emergency services. This includes managing infectious cases within our isolation unit. Our supervisors and managers play a key role in providing the necessary training and guidance to ensure our technicians excel in their roles.

Expected Salary:

$25-$30/hr (salary based on qualifications and supervisory experience), with eligibility for an additional 10%-30% shift differential.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree with two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma with four years of relevant experience. Relevant college coursework or vocational training may substitute for experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited veterinary technology program and/or certification as a veterinary technician or eligibility to take the VTNE.
  • 3-5 years of experience in veterinary medicine, with proficiency in medical terminology and essential veterinary technician skills.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in veterinary settings.
  • Strong critical thinking abilities and a professional demeanor in challenging situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
