Job Overview

This role is a hands-on overnight supervisory position where the selected candidate will collaborate with their team from Wednesday to Saturday, working from 6 PM to 4 AM. Flexibility is essential to ensure adequate shift coverage, attend necessary meetings, and engage with staff. The Veterinary Care Supervisor plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work atmosphere that encourages learning and promotes a collaborative team approach to delivering exceptional patient care from admission to discharge.

We are committed to maintaining an inclusive team philosophy, frequently involving PCW technicians in both emergency and critical care settings to enhance their nursing skills and critical thinking abilities. A significant aspect of this role involves mentoring technicians to advocate for patients effectively and ensuring meticulous attention to detail, which is vital for maintaining patient safety and delivering high-quality nursing care.

The PCW ward handles a diverse range of cases, including orthopedic, ophthalmic, cardiac, and oncology patients, along with various conditions managed by our internal medicine and emergency services. This includes cases such as diabetes, snake bites, pancreatitis, and immune-mediated diseases. Additionally, the ward features an isolation area for infectious respiratory cases and parvovirus.

Salary Expectations:

$25-$30/hr, with additional shift differentials based on credentials and supervisory experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree with two years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma with four years of relevant experience. Relevant college coursework or vocational training may substitute for required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited veterinary technology program and/or certification as a veterinary technician or eligibility to take the VTNE.
3-5 years of experience in veterinary medicine, with proficiency in medical terminology and essential veterinary technician skills.
At least two years of supervisory experience in veterinary settings.
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to maintain professionalism in a challenging environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
