Compensation

This role is classified as an hourly position within pay grade 103.

Work Schedule

This is a non-rotating position requiring a forty (40) hour work week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility for additional hours may be necessary.

Eligibility

Open to all individuals legally authorized to work in the United States.

Job Responsibilities

The Wastewater Operations Technicians play a crucial role in the upkeep and functioning of the six (6) Wastewater Treatment Facilities and the City's lift stations.

This position also involves the maintenance and management of wastewater collection systems.

Employees are expected to adhere to TCEQ regulations and other relevant laws while performing their duties.

Key Duties

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities
  • Execute preventive maintenance on engines, generators, pumps, settling tanks, filters, chemical feed systems, and various equipment
  • Assess job performance by observing and providing feedback on work methods
  • Provide training and mentorship to fellow employees
  • Carry out basic to intermediate process control measurements, including testing of DO, pH, and residual analysis, sludge quality, and sulfide levels
  • Respond to emergency chemical releases, ensuring containment and evacuation procedures are followed
  • Demonstrate a foundational understanding of plant flow and treatment processes
  • Conduct process laboratory analyses and document data for residuals
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of treatment chemicals
  • Monitor distribution system pressures remotely
  • Operate pumps, motors, and valves from a distance
  • Manage chemical deliveries
  • Apply knowledge of TCEQ regulations
  • May be assigned additional duties as required
Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • No prior experience is necessary
  • Class B CDL license must be obtained within one (1) year of employment
  • Class D Wastewater license is required within one (1) year of employment
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory; out-of-state candidates must secure a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment
