Compensation

This role is classified as an hourly position within pay grade 103.

Work Schedule

This position entails a standard forty (40) hour work week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the expectation of additional hours as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

The Wastewater Operations Technicians play a crucial role in the upkeep and functionality of the six (6) Wastewater Treatment Facilities and the associated lift stations. This position also involves maintaining and managing the wastewater collection systems.

Employees are required to adhere to TCEQ regulations and other relevant laws while performing their duties.

  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities
  • Execute preventive maintenance on engines, generators, pumps, settling tanks, filters, and chemical feed systems
  • Assess job performance by observing and providing feedback on work methods
  • Mentor and train fellow staff members
  • Carry out basic to intermediate process control measurements, including testing for DO, pH, and residual analysis
  • Respond to emergency chemical releases, including containment and evacuation protocols
  • Exhibit foundational knowledge of plant operations and treatment processes
  • Maintain accurate records of all treatment chemicals
  • Monitor distribution system pressures remotely
  • Operate pumps, motors, and valves from a distance
  • Receive and manage chemical deliveries
  • Apply knowledge of TCEQ standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • No prior experience necessary
  • Class B CDL license must be obtained within one (1) year of employment
  • Class D Wastewater license required within one (1) year of employment
  • A valid driver's license is essential; out-of-state candidates must secure a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment
