Position Overview:

This role serves as a pivotal leadership position within the Truck Shop.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Coordination: Directs and organizes daily tasks for team members, collaborates with supervisors to clarify work assignments and priorities, and ensures timely completion of tasks.
  • Inspection Duties: Conducts thorough inspections and testing of all truck and heavy equipment systems, including drivetrain, engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC, and emissions. Responsible for completing work orders, obtaining necessary parts, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Executes both routine and complex repairs on trucks and heavy equipment by analyzing operator reports and diagnostic data, troubleshooting issues, and performing necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Performs essential preventive maintenance tasks such as fluid checks and replacements, oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations, ensuring equipment is in peak operating condition.
  • Material Management: Assesses and determines the materials required for various projects, monitors inventory levels, and initiates requests for new or replacement supplies.
  • Machinery Operation: Operates various machinery and tools to complete work assignments effectively, maintaining and utilizing a comprehensive mechanics tool kit.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Engages in welding and fabrication tasks, repairing broken parts and ensuring that all components meet operational specifications.

Additional Duties: Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED is required, supplemented by vocational training and a minimum of five years as an automobile technician or six years of progressive experience in mechanical vehicle repair. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a supervisory role or as a service advisor within the last three years.
  • Background in maintenance and repair of off-road equipment.
  • Experience with propane vehicles and/or equipment.
  • Familiarity with Asset Management software.

Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements and obtain (Master) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting moderately heavy objects, with occasional lifting of heavier items (up to 100 pounds).

Sensory Requirements:

Some tasks necessitate the ability to perceive colors, sounds, odors, and visual signals, as well as effective oral communication.

Environmental Considerations:

Essential functions may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including dirt, dust, humidity, fumes, and hazardous materials.
