We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team at the City of Marietta, GA. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing complex repairs and maintenance on a variety of City vehicles and heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair issues with gas and diesel engines, electrical systems, brake systems, hydraulic systems, and suspension/steering systems.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and report completed tasks to the supervisor.
- Install, replace, or repair police vehicle parts and fire truck apparatus.
- Clean and maintain the work area, checking and inventorying shop tools as needed.
- May be required to perform duties in other divisions within the department during periods of heavy workload or natural disasters.
- High school graduate or GED and three (3) years of full-service mechanic experience.
- Class C Georgia Driver's License at time of hire and obtain a Georgia Class-B Commercial Driver's License within one year from the date of hire.
- Must pass CDL written exam within 5 months from the date of hire and have a satisfactory (7) seven-year driving history.
- Ability to pass a physical exam and drug screen at time of hire.
- Knowledge and skill when using welding machines and cutting torches.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply engine and part diagrams.
- Ability to successfully complete training classes on diagnostic testing equipment, emergency vehicle repair, electrical/electronic systems, hydraulics, emissions, and other related specialty training.
- Opportunity to advance to senior levels two and three through Mechanic Promotional Program.
