Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Travel Nurse RN to join our dedicated team at Rio Grande Regional Hospital. This role is primarily focused on a Telemetry unit that is evolving into a neuro/stepdown unit, providing care for patients with both telemetry and neurological needs.

Certification Requirements
  • Mandatory Certifications: ACLS
Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing care for patients with a mix of MedSurg and Telemetry experience.
  • Performing standard nursing procedures including IV management, wound care, central line maintenance, and foley catheter insertion and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Essential Experience: MedSurg or Telemetry experience is required.
  • Desirable Experience: Telemetry or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience is preferred.
Team Dynamics

The unit operates with a collaborative team structure:

  • Day Shift: Includes a Free Charge Nurse, RNs, PCTs, Monitor Tech, and Unit Secretary.
  • Night Shift: Similar staffing as the day shift.
Patient Care Standards

We maintain a patient care ratio of:

  • 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5 patients per nurse.
Work Schedule

The position requires:

  • Working every other weekend.
  • No on-call duties or blocked scheduling.
Unit Information

The Neuroscience unit features:

  • Bed Capacity: 49 beds.
  • Staff Composition: Includes a Free Charge Nurse, RNs, PCTs, Monitor Tech, and Unit Secretary for both shifts.
  • Equipment: Utilizes telemetry monitors and Baxter IV Pumps.
  • Electronic Medical Records: Managed through Meditech.

Local Fill: This position is designated for local candidates.

Dress Code: Scrub color is Royal Blue.
