Orientation and Mobility Specialist

VIA, Visually Impaired Advancement, is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide expert instruction and support to individuals who are blind or have low vision. This is a full-time position that requires a Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility or an equivalent degree program, as well as ACVREP certification and a NYS driver's license.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Orientation and Mobility instruction to individuals of all ages, maximizing their safety, functionality, and independence.
- Assess client needs, establish goals, and develop lesson plans to achieve successful outcomes.
- Document progress and outcomes, completing all reporting within established guidelines.
- Review client information, complete PAL applications, and provide continuous support to meet identified goals.
- Stay current on trends, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology in the field.
- Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility or equivalent degree program.
- ACVREP certification preferred.
- NYS driver's license and reliable transportation or ability to travel effectively within the assigned geographic area.
