Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Expert Mobility Instruction: Provide personalized Orientation and Mobility (O&M) instruction to individuals of all ages, helping them to navigate their surroundings with confidence and independence.
  • Enhance Client Safety and Functionality: Assess client needs, set goals, and create tailored lesson plans to enhance their safety, functionality, and overall quality of life.
  • Assess and Track Progress: Monitor client progress, track outcomes, and maintain accurate electronic documentation, adhering to VIA and NYSCB guidelines.
  • Develop and Implement Curriculums: Create engaging curriculums for youth programs, promoting the development of essential skills and knowledge.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools: Demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Empathy and Counseling Abilities: Display empathy and counseling abilities, providing support and guidance to clients as needed.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Orientation & Mobility or Equivalent: Possess a Master's degree in Orientation & Mobility or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • ACVREP Certification: Hold ACVREP certification, or be willing to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
  • NYS Driver's License and Reliable Transportation: Possess a valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation.
