Senior Project Manager - Substation Operations

Compensation - Commensurate with Experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned project manager to oversee multiple significant substation initiatives from the transition of estimates to the final financial reconciliation. This individual will be accountable for the fiscal health of their projects, including change order submissions, invoicing, and as-built documentation. The ideal candidate should possess familiarity with local utility standards and operational policies in New York, along with substantial experience in project financial management, including profit/loss analysis and forecasting for projects exceeding $50 million.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor project expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints
  • Assess project progress and implement adjustments as necessary
  • Deliver regular project updates to various stakeholders regarding strategy, modifications, and progress
  • Evaluate project performance to pinpoint areas for enhancement
  • Define and clarify project scope and objectives
  • Develop budgets based on project scope and resource needs
  • Anticipate resource requirements to achieve objectives and manage resources efficiently
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive project schedule and work plan
  • Oversee contracts with vendors and suppliers, assigning tasks and communicating expected outcomes
  • Employ industry best practices, methodologies, and standards throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify and document change orders as necessary, managing them from inception to approval.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred, though extensive field management experience in electrical construction may be considered
  • 5-8 years of relevant project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects through all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Proven capacity for creative problem-solving
  • Strong understanding of project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and resourcefulness
  • Proven track record of delivering projects within defined scope, budget, and timeline.
