Key Responsibilities

Acts as the primary point of contact for patrons seeking assistance during evening, weekend, and closing hours at Texas Tech University. Ensures the security of the Library facility and its users during various incidents. Responsible for the opening and closing procedures of the Library. Aids in the collection and evaluation of assessment and statistical data related to Access Services. Prepares reports that include analysis and interpretation of the gathered data. Engages in service areas to deliver outstanding customer service. Handles incoming calls and directs inquiries appropriately. Maintains the inventory of reserve materials. Collects and records statistical data for transactions outside of the ALMA system. Coordinates with supervisors, emergency personnel, and the Operations Division to ensure the safety of the Library and its patrons. Responsible for the opening and closing of the Library. Supports the development and upkeep of the departmental SharePoint site and statistical dashboard. Assists patrons in obtaining TexShare cards, community eRaider, and borrower’s cards. Contributes to the drafting and revision of Access Services policies and guidelines. Monitors Access Services email communications. Submits necessary Access Services Work Orders, End of Day Reports, and Incident Reports. Participates in the departmental Customer Service Team. Attends Library meetings, staff development workshops, and University training sessions as required. Completes assigned special projects. Required Skills and Competencies Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Adaptability in work assignments. High attention to detail and precision. Proficient keyboarding skills. Exceptional customer service aptitude. Proven ability to work independently and think critically.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a library setting. Familiarity with Integrated Library Systems. Effective time management skills. Experience in handling challenging customer interactions.
