Job Title: Vice President Regional Credit Officer

At Lake Michigan Credit Union, we're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President Regional Credit Officer to join our team. As a key member of our commercial lending team, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing the assigned commercial lending territory, ensuring the overall quality of the Credit Union's commercial credit extension.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor regional credit quality issues and evaluate the level of risk in each loan within the region, assigning the appropriate corresponding risk rating.
  • Assist in managing watch list loans and criticized assets, working with the lending team to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide ongoing supervision of the region's commercial credit team and support to leadership on the direction of credit underwriting, portfolio risk mitigation, and compliance with loan policy and procedure.
  • Participate as an active voting member on the regional loan committee, responsible for the content, quality, and accuracy of the regional loan committee agendas and minutes.
  • Assist credit analysts and credit managers as needed with difficult credit underwriting issues, and assist in the mentoring, guidance, and development of assigned commercial lending team members.
  • Review underwriting requests for compliance with Credit Union policy and regulatory compliance, and ensure annual credit reviews are completed in accordance with loan policy and procedure.
Requirements:
  • Five to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance, or a related field of study.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, train, and develop team members, with the capacity to work within a team framework focused on building consensus.
  • Ability to independently make and defend commercial lending recommendations based on analysis and voice opposing viewpoints diplomatically.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, with knowledge of the Jack Henry Platform.
