Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Process Safety Specialist to join our team at JCL Risk Services LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing multiple process safety projects and maintaining project schedules to ensure critical deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform process hazard analysis (PHA), Hazard & Operability Analysis (HAZOP), and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) for various industries.
  • Conduct safety and integrity analysis, quantitative risk analysis, process safety management auditing, and facility siting surveys for oil and gas and petrochemical facilities.
  • Mentor others on industry process safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver consequence modeling for requested facilities.
  • Create general operating procedures per client requests.
  • Conduct facility walk-downs and ensure redline P&IDs get corrected and sent to drafting for required updates.
  • Read and manipulate P&IDs when required.
  • Facilitate and implement improvement plans in conjunction with designated teams.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with management, team members, and clients.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% for the time.
  • Strong understanding of relevant safety standards and regulations, including PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, etc.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, demonstrating a high degree of problem-solving initiative.
  • Proven track record facilitating PHAs, incident investigations, safety audits, etc. using best practice methodologies.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written communication, required to interpret EPA, OSHA, and various government agencies and know their applicability to site processes.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or better in Chemical Engineering, Fire Protection & Safety Engineering, or other related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience developing plans for presenting/leading PHAs, HAZOP, LOPAs, meetings for the oil & gas and petrochemical industries.
  • High proficiency in using PHA Pro software or comparable software and Microsoft Office and Excel along with other risk evaluation software.
  • At least 15 years of experience performing the required responsibilities of a Process Safety Consultant.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform effectively with minimal direction.
