Fire Technician I Role

Berkshire Systems Group, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fire Technician I to join our team. As a Fire Technician I, you will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining, repairing, and providing customer support for Fire Alarm Systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commission and modify basic fire alarm systems, including addition or deletion of panel hardware, circuit boards, detectors, stations, modules, notification appliances, etc.
  • Perform on-site service, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on fire alarm systems.
  • Test fire system operations to satisfy code requirements.
  • Complete thorough and timely documentation of all activities, including service reports, expense reports, quality alerts, and maintenance reports.
  • Read and interpret engineered site drawings, manufacturer operating manuals/documentation, and matrices of operation.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
Requirements:
  • Strong technical knowledge with an electronics background and a solid skillset/foundation with Fire Alarm systems.
  • Ability to commission and modify basic fire alarm systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to use multimeter, lineman's telephone test set, and basic electronic theory.
  • Solid customer service and communication skills.
  • Impeccable organizational and multi-tasking skills in a professional setting.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with Fire Alarm system installations.
  • Associate's degree in Electronics or related field.
  • Industry certifications such as NICET and formalized manufacturer training a plus.
Physical Requirements:

The Fire Technician I role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs, and access elevated areas to inspect fire alarm system components installed at various heights. The position also requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily continuous basis is also required.
