Key Responsibilities:
• Operate heavy machinery to efficiently load and transport waste materials.
• Conduct daily inspections and maintenance checks on equipment.
• Perform lubrication and fluid checks on machinery as needed.
• Steer and guide equipment at designated sites, ensuring safe operation.
• Substitute for absent operators as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment tracks and mechanisms.
• Communicate effectively with team members using two-way radios regarding daily tasks and priorities.
• Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain the appearance of the work environment.
• Attend safety meetings and training sessions.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Ability to obtain necessary certifications for Transfer Station or Landfill Operations.
• Proficient in operating various heavy machinery, including excavators and compactors, while adhering to safety protocols.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Strong problem-solving skills in standardized settings.
• Basic mathematical skills and the ability to interpret equipment gauges.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
• Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Physical and Mental Demands:
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting.
• Visual acuity for close and distance vision, as well as depth perception.
• Exposure to loud noises and outdoor elements.
