Electrical Design Engineer for Utility Scale Solar Projects

About the Role

Energix North America is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Arlington, Virginia. As a key member of our utility scale solar team, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems for solar energy projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical system designs for solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with utilities and grid operators to manage the interconnection process, from submittal to commercial operation date (COD).
  • Collaborate with project managers to create and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources for electrical engineering tasks.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges related to electrical systems and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical systems.
  • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 3-5+ years of experience as an electrical engineer, preferably in utility-scale renewable energy in PJM.
  • Experience with design/build construction and proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to analyze financial impacts of engineering requirements and challenges.
  • Team player with strong initiative and excellent communication skills.
