Position Summary
The role of Director of Engineering is situated at our Arlington headquarters. This position is integral to the management team overseeing utility-scale solar projects. The Director will be responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing both civil and electrical design processes from inception to execution.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Engineering will be expected to:
- Collaborate with engineering consultants to design solar projects, focusing on land development, stormwater management, and erosion control.
- Engage in the in-house design and development of solar project documentation.
- Lead the development of new solar sites from initial concept through testing and into production.
- Monitor project timelines and progress within the pipeline.
- Review project documentation to ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Address engineering challenges by coordinating with project consultants and site managers.
- Work with both internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain project engineering specifications and requirements.
- Plan and oversee the activities of engineering contractors and staff, ensuring alignment with project goals, and recruit additional engineers as necessary.
- Coordinate with the in-house electrical engineering team.
- Maintain effective communication with management, construction teams, subcontractors, equipment vendors, and inspectors.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in utility-scale renewable energy projects, particularly in the East Coast region.
- Strong technical acumen in interpreting drawings and specifications, with a proven ability to enhance problem-solving communications with contractors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and project development.
- Experience in design/build construction methodologies.
- Robust financial analysis skills to assess the financial implications of engineering decisions.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
Education & Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
