Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Flow Coordinator to join our team at CommonSpirit Health. As a Patient Flow Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth transfer of patients within our healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect demographic and financial information on incoming transfers and complete registration in the hospital system.
  • Adhere to Federal/State statutes that govern medical emergency transfers and enforce the time requirements mandated by the State of these transfers.
  • Ensure that non-emergent patients meet the hospital's admitting criteria.
  • Confirm that patients are admitted to the appropriate level of care and coordinate with Patient Flow Coordinator to pre-screen patients prior to transfer.
  • Coordinate transfers with other departments to ensure patients' outpatient tests/procedures are scheduled.
  • Verify the hospital census and ensure that all patients are being charged the appropriate level of care.
  • Monitor Bed Central system to make appropriate bed assignments and authorize or deny all in-house transfer requests.
  • Check the bed status and patient type and, if necessary, change the accommodation code or patient type for billing purposes.
  • Review reports to ensure that the appropriate room charges are captured as required by federal/State requirements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting
