Academic Professional Instructor

The Department of Curriculum & Instruction, College of Education and Human Development, is continually seeking qualified candidates for teaching positions that may become available during the academic year or summer session.
Applications are reviewed as openings occur, and individual applicants are invited to interview when their skills or areas of expertise match a specific opening.
These are temporary, non-tenured, Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) positions as Teaching Specialist or Lecturer, paid on a per course basis with a maximum of 4 credits.
Typically, these appointments are made semester by semester and employment is contingent on the course meeting its enrollment target.
Job ResponsibilitiesTeaching (90%)
- Deliver Course Content: Attend class meetings and provide instruction to students.
- Evaluate Student Performance: Submit grades and provide feedback to students.
- Respond to Student Inquiries: Meet with students and address their concerns.
Course Preparation (10%)
- Complete Orientation and Training: Meet with faculty and gather information as needed.
- Develop Course Content and Syllabus: Prepare course materials and syllabus.
- Prepare Course Materials: Develop and prepare course materials.
Required Qualifications:
- A Master's degree is required to be hired as a Teaching Specialist.
- A PhD degree is required to be hired as a Lecturer.
- Capacity to develop a strong record of excellence in teaching and academic program development at the postbac and graduate level, and service/outreach activities.
- At least two years of educational experience in a context related to the teaching assignment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in education.
- Experience as a master teacher or school administrator.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
- Current knowledge of research.
