We are currently seeking a dedicated High School Leadership Elective Teacher for our Eastern High School. This role is pivotal in providing our 9th-12th grade students with top-tier leadership education. The ideal candidate will foster a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students can express themselves and collaborate towards shared academic objectives.
Course FocusThe Leadership curriculum is designed to enhance students' competencies in key areas such as:
- Goal Setting
- Group Collaboration
- Interpersonal Skills
- Problem-Solving
Students will explore various leadership styles, effective communication, decision-making processes, and teamwork dynamics, thereby enriching their understanding and application of leadership principles throughout their academic journey and community involvement.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in management or a related discipline
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Lansing School District
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with secondary endorsement (candidates must enroll in a program if not currently possessed)
- Prior successful teaching experience in an urban educational setting
- Exhibit a strong passion for and expertise in management and leadership
- Instruct students on principles of leadership, social justice, and community engagement
- Deliver exceptional instruction across various subjects
- Utilize data to inform and differentiate teaching strategies
- Engage in continuous professional development by incorporating feedback from peers and school leadership
- Establish strong relationships with students and parents to cultivate a welcoming and dynamic learning environment
- Perform additional duties as necessary to support the Lansing School District's mission
