Safety Compliance Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Engineer plays a crucial role in the execution of safety policies, programs, and procedures, ensuring a secure work environment for all personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the enforcement of BELL's Safety Manual and oversees adherence to relevant policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and laws.
- Collaborates with project teams to create, implement, and revise site-specific safety plans.
- Promotes, monitors, and supports management practices and communication strategies that foster a safety-centric culture.
- Conducts site safety evaluations and takes necessary actions to halt unsafe practices. Records hazards identified during inspections using safety management software, ensuring timely communication and resolution of all issues.
- Develops and maintains documentation related to emergency preparedness.
- Leads the establishment and coordination of site safety committees.
- Designs, delivers, and tracks safety orientations for all individuals accessing the project site.
- Coordinates and supervises safety inspection activities for project teams and trade partners.
- Recognizes and promotes safe behaviors and conditions through effective interaction and feedback.
- Acts as a trusted advisor by sharing safety tips and best practices with project teams and trade partners.
- Conducts site visits to observe, learn, and collaborate with project teams to enhance the safety culture.
- Ensures adherence to trade-specific safety plans and Safe Start meetings to confirm compliance with all safety aspects by team members and trade partners.
- Monitors and documents all health and safety incidents, assisting with or conducting investigations to determine root causes and necessary preventive measures.
- Supports all onsite injury management, including documentation and case oversight.
- Fosters a safe working atmosphere by building relationships with clients, subcontractors, colleagues, and management.
- Advises Project Managers and Superintendents regarding job site hazards, employee training, safe equipment operation, and safe material usage.
- Reviews, monitors, and provides feedback on work plans and activities of trade partners concerning safety-related issues.
- Accompanies clients, partners, and regulatory agency representatives during job site inspections.
- Assists project teams in planning for special events (e.g., Safety Week, Topping Out, etc.).
- Performs any other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum requirement – Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum requirement – One (1) year of safety experience in commercial construction or a related field.
- Preferred industry training/certification – CSP, ASP, GSP, CHST, or CIH.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
- Previous experience with Viewpoint & Bluebeam is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Public speaking skills.
- Strong teamwork orientation and leadership capabilities.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality.
