Position Overview

Are you a skilled Electrical Estimator specializing in commercial projects? At Amber Electrical Contractors Inc, you will play a pivotal role in crafting competitive bid proposals for various commercial and industrial undertakings.

Key Responsibilities

As an Estimator, your primary focus will be on:

  • Evaluating proposal specifications and blueprints to generate precise electrical estimates for commercial and industrial ventures.
  • Leveraging your expertise in electrical systems, particularly in low-voltage estimating.
  • Participating in pre-bid discussions and collaborating with the Estimating team to ensure accurate submissions.
  • Conducting site visits and meetings to gather essential project information.
  • Thoroughly reviewing all bid documents to ensure comprehensive understanding.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain necessary bid information.
  • Completing detailed takeoffs within established deadlines using advanced estimating software.
  • Preparing change order estimates for projects that have been awarded.
  • Working alongside other estimators and company departments throughout the estimating process.
  • Finalizing estimates and engaging in team reviews on bid day.
  • Maintaining daily communication with subcontractors and vendors to facilitate collaboration.
  • Assessing subcontractor and vendor bids for completeness and compliance with specifications.
  • Conducting value engineering analyses to align with client objectives.
  • Drafting detailed scope of work narratives for each project.
  • Providing support to field operations during project closeout.
  • Creating proposal letters that outline the scope of work, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications.
  • Anticipating estimating needs even with limited information.
  • Following up with clients for feedback on bids and reporting results to management.
  • Ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Assisting in the bid process and reviewing final submissions with the Estimating Staff.
  • Supporting the VP of Pre-Con as required.
  • Attending project meetings and conducting site investigations as assigned.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in estimating commercial or industrial projects.
  • Field experience in electrical and low-voltage systems is advantageous.
  • Experience estimating projects valued at $3M and above.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the electrical industry, including materials and construction methods.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (N.E.C.) and local regulations.
  • Proficient in ConEst and IntellBid estimating software.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • A commitment to delivering accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Excellent communication abilities with various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to company policies and procedures.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
