This role, also known as Financial Analyst, Principal Program Controls Analyst, Project Controller, or Project Cost Controller, is crucial to the project execution team, working in close collaboration with Project Managers. The CPM's focus is on the financial and operational dimensions of projects, aiding the team in surpassing financial targets.

The CPM is jointly responsible with the Project Manager for overseeing the project throughout its lifecycle, actively engaging in all facets of the process. Responsibilities include determining, monitoring, and evaluating project actuals against forecasts and budgets. The CPM will liaise closely with Accounting, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Site Managers, Subcontractors, and Suppliers, while also supporting internal teams and stakeholder contributions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning: Develop project order intake calculations, establish and maintain project baseline budgets aligned with the work breakdown structure (WBS), and manage project budget allocations.

Cost Control & Reporting: Oversee, analyze, and report on project expenditures, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations. Document variances against budget and previous estimates.

Generate monthly project status reports and conduct ad hoc reporting, with a solid understanding of Earned Value Management.

Forecasting: Create financial forecasts for projects, including Orders, Revenue, Gross Profit, EBIT, Billings, and Payments. Prepare project Estimate-At-Completion (ETC/EAC).

Risk and Cash Management: Identify, assess, mitigate, and report on project risks and opportunities, ensuring timely billing for project milestones and customer payments.

Additional Responsibilities: Participate in month-end closing activities, prepare cost accruals and provisions, and ensure accurate revenue and profit recognition. Support internal and external project audits as needed and assist in project closure activities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a Finance-related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in a project-based business in a controlling or project finance role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project controlling, finance, contract management, and supply chain management.
  • Experience in project/product teams supporting multiple projects and project managers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail, capable of navigating complex topics.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Proactive and results-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
