Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Precision CNC Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating both CNC and manual machining equipment to produce high-precision components with minimal supervision in a manufacturing environment. This role demands a comprehensive skill set that extends beyond basic geometric adjustments and programming modifications. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to visualize tool paths and have a thorough understanding of G-code programming.

Proficiency in blueprint interpretation and a solid grasp of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential. The machinery involved may include CNC lathes and multi-axis CNC machining centers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The Precision CNC Operator is tasked with executing machining operations as per work orders, which encompasses setup, production, and inspection of all assigned machining tasks.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of CNC machines within the manufacturing facility.
  • Utilize fabrication machinery to create components essential for production processes.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials for machining operations.
  • Employ measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify tolerances and quality of produced parts, collaborating with Quality Assurance and other departments as necessary.
  • Inspect and measure finished units and components to identify defects and ensure compliance with specified standards; adjust machine settings to rectify production discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records in the production management system regarding job completion times, quantities produced, and scrap rates.
  • Interpret layouts, job travelers, and blueprints for the components being manufactured, including understanding Geometric Tolerancing.
  • Conduct necessary auxiliary operations during machine cycle times as required and suggest improvements to setup procedures.
  • Inspect machinery for maintenance needs and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety in the work area.
  • Adhere to relevant safety standards and regulations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in operating various types of machine tools for progressive machining tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical plans.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Preferred: Vocational or technical training and apprenticeship in Machining Technology or CNC Machining.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and bend for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 35 pounds.
