Job Summary



We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the University of Michigan Health System. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care in an ambulatory care setting, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.



Responsibilities



  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

  • Provide nursing care in accordance with institutional and health center guidelines for Family Medicine population.

  • Complete specified tasks related to prescription renewal, per protocol.

  • Participate in process improvement activities, including those associated with prescription renewal.

  • May include direct patient care, such as immunizations, injections, wound care, suture removals, patient flow, and documentation.

  • Complete FMLA, disability, DME, and assisted living forms, as well as result notes.

  • Assist with quality care initiatives and BPAs.

  • Partner with the Registered Nurse Team to support patient phone call management.

  • Participate in the use of protocols at the direction of the Registered Nurse or Physician.

  • Assist in day-to-day clinic operations, assisting RN and MD staff as needed.

  • Participate in quality improvement and staff meetings to enhance patient care.



Requirements



  • Graduation from an approved School of Practical Nursing.

  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.

  • National Association for Practical Nurse Education & Services (NAPNES) certification or completion of a pharmacology course in an accredited program.

  • Experience in patient instruction and telephone interaction with patients.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Minimum of one year of ambulatory care experience.

  • Bilingual - Spanish.

  • Demonstrated record of excellent attendance.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of UMHS Policies and Procedures.

  • Efficient in EMR, including MiChart and Epic Program.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced clinic setting.

  • Ability to solve problems and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Computer skills and knowledge related to tests and procedures.



Work Schedule



40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, day shift. Candidate must be flexible with scheduling.
