Position: Workers' Compensation Coordinator

Organization: Center for Orthopaedics

Summary: The Workers' Compensation Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing workers' compensation claims, facilitating prior authorizations for medical services, and acting as the main point of contact for all matters related to workers' compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals, patients, case managers, insurance adjusters, and payors.
  • Confirm patient details and input new claims into the Practice Management System.
  • Secure prior approvals for all services rendered under workers' compensation.
  • Organize and schedule appointments and rehabilitation meetings for patients under workers' compensation.
  • Serve as a liaison among employers, insurance providers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Keep meticulous records of all workers' compensation cases and track authorization requests.
  • Promptly and efficiently manage requests for medical records related to workers' compensation.
  • Address inquiries and requests from workers' compensation carriers and employers in a timely manner.
  • Initiate appeals for any denied pre-authorization requests when necessary.
  • Upload all relevant correspondence regarding prior authorizations to patient accounts.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous clinical experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, Practice Management software, and basic office applications.
  • Experience in customer service, ideally within a healthcare environment.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in a medical office or workers' compensation setting.

Work Environment: This position is situated in an office environment with frequent phone interactions and interruptions. The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively is essential.

Physical and Mental Requirements: The role involves continuous standing, sitting, walking, bending, and stooping. It requires handling data entry and viewing computer screens for extended periods. Some lifting may be necessary, along with potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
