Position Overview

As a Production Assembly Lead in the automotive sector, you will be responsible for managing the seamless execution of manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with quality benchmarks and production timelines. Your responsibilities will include strategic oversight, resource management, and driving continuous enhancement initiatives to optimize efficiency and fulfill client requirements.

Company Insights

Our client is a prominent player in the automotive manufacturing industry, operating multiple production facilities in the Springfield area. Due to their expansion, they are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a team of managers, supervisors, and production staff at one of their facilities. This newly created role requires a visionary leader who can coach and mentor the team towards achieving greater success.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will report directly to the Area Manager and be tasked with:

  • Supervising and guiding the daily operations of approximately 20 production employees, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and labor objectives are consistently met.
  • Enhancing material flow and effectively managing workforce and equipment utilization.
  • Formulating and executing continuous improvement strategies for equipment and departmental processes.
  • Establishing and monitoring the annual departmental budget with a focus on minimizing production and maintenance supply expenses.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with departments such as Planning, Sales, Engineering, and Production.
  • Interpreting and enforcing company policies, operational guidelines, and union agreements.
  • Addressing workplace challenges and supporting employees in resolving issues.
  • Maintaining precise records of time, attendance, and inventory.
  • Coordinating with Group Leaders and team members on departmental initiatives.
  • Making informed daily decisions regarding production schedules and personnel matters that impact delivery and quality.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in production or assembly supervision.
  • A proven track record of effective leadership.
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement and LEAN methodologies.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of project management and ISO standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
